Description
Hrudaya Raaga is a touching Kannada novel by Saisuthe that explores family relationships, motherhood, marital conflict, love, sacrifice, and the harsh realities of domestic cruelty. The story begins with Sandhya, who becomes pregnant before marriage and is lovingly cared for by her brother Lakshmipathi. After Sandhya’s death following childbirth, Lakshmipathi raises her daughter Prabha with affection and dedication.
When Prabha grows up, she falls in love with Chandramohan and marries him. However, her married life takes a painful turn because of the cruelty of her mother-in-law Subhadramma, who refuses to accept her son’s choice. Even while pregnant, Prabha is forced to leave the house, reminding Lakshmipathi of the tragic path once faced by his sister Sandhya.
Through contrasting characters such as the compassionate Lakshmipathi, manipulative Jagannath, cruel Subhadramma, and gentle Sandhya and Prabha, the novel presents different shades of human nature and family life.
